overviewCourse Overview

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) (CHC33015), offered by Open Colleges, prepares students in WA and SA to pursue careers as care and support workers in the community and residential aged care sector.

Combining the ‘Ageing’ specialisation and ‘Home and Community’ specialisation in the one qualification, this course covers the fundamentals of providing care and support in a variety of settings. You’ll learn to provide support to people living with dementia, and facilitate the empowerment of older people; promote independence and wellbeing while meeting support and care needs, and provide home and community support services to a diverse range of people.

In addition to essential theory and underpinning knowledge, the course also provides valuable on-the-job experience through practical work placements.  As part of this course, you will be required to complete a work placement component totalling 120 hours (3 weeks) in the Aged Care or Community Care environments.
